(Questions answered on career concerns)

Why do you want to leave your previous company or job? How can I explain this in an interview effectively?

Manrash
Via email

The interviewer may want to know if you had any problems on your last job. If you did not have any problems, simply give a reason, such as: relocated away from job; company went out of business; laid off; temporary job; no possibility of advancement, or wanted a job better suited to your skills.

If you did have problems, be honest. Show that you can accept responsibility and learn from your mistakes. You should explain any problems you had (or still have) with an employer, but don't describe that employer in negative terms. Demonstrate that it was a learning experience that will not affect your future work.

What are the career prospects for Quality Assurance Engineers?

Ram Kumar
Via email

Traditional employers of quality assurance (QA) professionals were the manufacturing industries, where there was an emphasis on final inspection and checking as finished goods were leaving the factory, with any rejects becoming scrap. Following the lead of the automotive industry, the emphasis on QA moved further back in the process to incorporate preparation and manufacturing with emphasis on getting quality established at the start. QA managers will, therefore, take responsibility for assessing the quality standards at suppliers of components and raw materials to ensure quality in all contributing areas before manufacturing actually begins.

Virtually all manufacturing organisations now employ quality professionals as a key part of their operation; this will cover not only mechanical engineering but also civil, chemical, electrical and electronic engineering, as well as the pharmaceutical, textile, chemical, food and drink industries.

In addition, service industries are increasingly employing quality personnel. Many other organisations, including health care, banking, education and government departments, will have a quality professional to monitor the quality of their work against targets and agreed standards. The emphasis here will be on ensuring the provision of a high quality service to clients and customers.

For any language the most important thing to be understood is correct phrasing and right use of words. Select content to learn from, that is of interest and just a little difficult. Start to read shorter chunks of content. As you get better, go for longer pieces of content.

Make sure, to learn new words and expressions. You also can listen to the audio file of the content. Try to combine audio and text as much as possible.

When you look up words and expressions, use an efficient means to review them and relate them to familiar contexts where you have seen them. Integrate all the activities of your learning. Listen, read, write and speak focusing on the words and phrases that you are trying to learn.
