Job fair at Bangalore on 26, 27 May

THE HINDU OPPORTUNITIES is holding a job fair in Bangalore. The job fair is scheduled for 26th and 27th May 2007. The venue of the fair is the Trade Centre at the Export Promotion Industrial Park at Whitefield Industrial Area in Bangalore.

The fair organised by The Hindu has Cognizant as the presenting sponsor and Patni as the platinum sponsor. The associate sponsors are Verizon, Covansys and SAIC. The radio partner of the fair is Radio City 91.1 FM, the communication partner is BSNL and the technology partner is TMI First.

The job fair offers excellent employment opportunities for candidates with good English communication and comprehension skills. The fair will see participation from companies in the BPO, IT, ITES, telecom, engineering, insurance and services (functions like sales and marketing, HR). More than 20 will participate in the fair.

The fair requires pre-registration to attend. Graduates or post-graduates in arts, commerce, science including 2007 pass outs willing to work in shifts are sought by ITES companies. Individuals over 20 years of age can apply. So can professionals who have two to 10 years of experience. Candidates with less than two years of experience are considered freshers. The registration can be done on line at www.thehindu.com or www.tmifirst.com/hf6/Index.aspx.

Once the registration acknowledgment is received, you can attend the fair to meet prospective employees. Suitable candidates will be short-listed and sent for interviews and tests at the venue. So come prepared, successful candidates can even get a job offer at the venue. If you are unable to meet all the recruiters you are interested in at the fair, you can register your name and submit your resume at these stalls and you could be called for an interview at a later date.

The key to make a visit to the job fair successful is to come prepared. The first thing to do as soon as you enter the venue is to check out the place; the various stalls and see where you could best fit in. A few pointers on how to be selective at the fair:

Take a walk around the stalls first, keep your eyes open to see which recruiters attract the most attention

Visit the stalls of those companies you would like to work for first then look at the others

Large and well-known companies will naturally attract the largest crowds; hence it may be wise to target smaller companies first

If you land up in a long line then take the time to review the facts about the company you have researched. Do a mental run of the answers you have prepared for possible interview questions. This will give you the confidence to face the interview

Another sensible thing to do while waiting is to get into conversation with other job seekers. This way you can exchange ideas, get a few leads and make the waiting time more pleasant

A fair is not a place to keep silent, make sure that you talk to all the recruiters who interest you. So that in the process you gain some information and maybe impress the recruiter to even land a job!
