'Perpetrators of J&K Assembly attack linked to Osama'

LONDON, OCT 4. The British Foreign Secretary, Mr. Jack Straw, today said terrorism continued to take an ugly toll on human life in India and condemned the recent bomb blast outside the Jammu and Kashmir assembly as ``utterly unjustified'' saying its perpetrators were linked to Osama bin laden.

"Let us not forget that just this week, terrorism has continued to take an ugly toll of innocent human life, in India. In Srinagar, a suicide bomber struck literally at the heart of their democracy by detonating a bomb in the State Assembly, killing 38 and injuring many more,'' Mr. Straw, who opened a debate on international response to terrorism, said.

``The terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad, which I proscribed when Home Secretary, has claimed responsibility for this outrage. Its leader is linked to (Saudi fugitive) Osama bin laden,'' he said.
