Tight security for Bihar bandh
PATNA, OCT.4. Security measures have been beefed up in Bihar in
view of the dawn-to-dusk State-wide bandh tomorrow called by the
NDA to press for the resignation of the Rabri Devi ministry
following the recent spurt in police firing, kidnapping, mass-
killing, atrocities on dalits and women.
Official sources said all the police stations were put on a
maximum alert and patrolling would be intensified on national and
state highways to ensure trouble-free movement of vehicular
traffic. Extra security attention would be paid to protect vital
installations particularly property of railways, sources said.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly,Mr. S.K. Modi
said the NDA activists would resort to complete `chakka jam' and
`rail roko' to enforce the bandh call to draw the Centre's
attention towards alleged lawlessness, anarchy and chaos gripping
the State.
Alleging that the State Government had miserably failed in
checking the growing incidence of kidnapping, mass- killing,
atrocities on dalits and women, Mr. Modi said Mrs. Rabri Devi had
lost the moral right to continue in office.
