BJP to unfold `vision'

By Neena Vyas

NEW DELHI, JAN. 9. The Bharatiya Janata Party will adopt two resolutions — economic and political — at its national executive committee meeting in Hyderabad on January 11 and 12.

Besides, a statement on the Prime Minister's success at the just-concluded South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit, where a breakthrough was also achieved on India-Pakistan bilateral relations, will also be adopted. And finally, the party is likely to discuss the idea of unfolding a "vision" instead of a manifesto before the people ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

The entire agenda is expected to be firmly focussed on advancing Lok Sabha polls by about four months to anytime between mid-April and mid-May. A "recommendation" on this will be made to the Government.

With an Assembly election also due in Andhra Pradesh, the BJP is planning a rally on January 11 in Hyderabad. It will be addressed by the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and the party president.

It is learnt that the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, has extended an invitation to dinner to the entire executive committee comprising some 125-odd members on January 11 night. That is expected to further strengthen the bonhomie between the Telugu Desam Party and the BJP ahead of a firm electoral seat-sharing arrangement for both the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls.
