Yoga camp for better living
Stretching the body ... for good health.
SWAMI RAMDEV was in Chennai recently, for a weeklong camp.
Every day of the camp saw people gather in large numbers at the Pachaiappa College playground.
Two-hour yoga camps were held every day from 5 a.m. and the visitors included S.S. Barnala, the Governor of Tamil Nadu. Tickets for participants ranged from Rs.500 to Rs.2, 100. The money will be used to build Patanjali Yog Peet, a world-class research centre, at Hardwar, in Uttaranchal.
Swami Ramdev, who set up the Divya Yog Mandir Trust in 1995, in Hardwar, said regular practice of Pranayama would cure one of diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, constipation, acidity and obesity.
He focused on Pranayama and taught some asanas, which he said will alter one's thought process.
A free camp in which thousands participated was also held.
The teacher spoke on herbal treatment for better vision and advocated a change in lifestyle. Sedentary lifestyle, lack of exercise and junk food result in obesity, he said.
The mega yoga camp was organised by Shri Agarwal Samaj. A Tamil edition of the book on Pranayama (Rs.50) and CD (Rs.150) are also available.
