The students of the Department of Music, Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, Tiruchi, paid homage to Sathguru Sri Tyagaraja during his 159th aradhana by rendering Pancharatna kirtanas at the college premises recently.
The department has been organising music programmes periodically to kindle the students' interest and enthusiasm and develop their skills.
The students sang the Pancharatna kirtanas of Tyagaraja.
Sankari Krishnan, a student of violin maestro, Lalgudi G. Jayaraman, gave a concert. She performed with perfect sruthi suddha, maintaining an intelligent balance all through the concert. Her sharp and crisp kalpanaswaras in the kritis "Vidajaladura'' in Janaranjani and "Bantureethi Kolu'' in Hamsanadam were highly appreciated.
She was accompanied by K. N. Sathiamoorthy on the violin, Koviladi R. Madhwaprasad on the mridangam and S. Rajaganesh on the kanjira.
