Karunanidhi says no to birthday bash

Chennai (PTI): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, who will turn 85 on June three, on Tuesday appealed to his supporters not to celebrate his birthday and refrain from calling on him on that day.

"I request you all to refrain from celebrating my birthday and on calling on me. I will not be in Chennai for a whole week," he said in a statement.

Karunanidhi said considering his mental and physical strain he should be relieved from the task of receiving visitors and accepting their greetings on his birthday.
