As a commerce student you can consider pursuing professional courses such as CA/CS/ICWA/ ICFA. These courses can be pursued along with your graduation. I am a graduate and wish to become a flight steward. What are the requirements and future prospects for this profession?

The requirements for a flight steward are similar to that of an airhostess. Graduates (men) or those with a class XII with three- year diploma in hotel management and catering technology, below the age of 26 years are eligible to apply.

You need to be at least 165 cm (barefoot) tall and weigh in proportion to your height. You need to be physically fit and have normal vision, have a pleasing personality, be fluent in English and Hindi. Knowledge of a foreign languages is desirable. Assistant flight stewards are selected on basis of their performance in an objective-type written test to assess general awareness and mental flexibility. Those who qualify in the written test are called for group discussion and interview . Starting as an assistant flight steward, you will work alongside airhostesses, while as a senior steward you will check the cargo, keep an account of occupancy, handle the duty-free items, serve alcoholic drinks on board, collect the money for in-flight purchases and help the hostess perform her duties efficiently.
