There are ample opportunities available for biotechnologists in
the food processing industry, chemical industry and the textile

products would be required. There are many opportunities in
government labs as well. Some of the major companies that hire
biotechnologists are Hindustan Lever, Thapar Group, Indo American
Hybrid Seeds, Bincon India Ltd., IDPL, Hindustan Antibiotics etc.
The following universities offer a B.Sc. in biotechnology:

I would like to know more about environmental engineering. What
are the future prospects of the course?
Lakshmi
Coimbatore
Environmental engineering is a relatively new branch of
engineering and draws its course curriculum mainly from civil,
mechanical and chemical engineering. Environmental engineers are
responsible for the conservation of environment and the reversal
of damage already caused to it. Environmental engineering
involves the treatment of different types of effluents and waste
so that no damage is caused to the environment.
Environmental engineers work in the government as well as private
sectors. There is great demand for these professionals to address
the problem of pollution control. Before major construction work
like an industrial unit, hotel, airport, or dam, these engineers
have to study their impact on the environment and suggest any
necessary changes in the plans. Companies involved in recycling
and waste management as well as consulting companies offer
employment opportunities.
