Q & A ON CAREER CONCERNS Dated 13th Mar. 2002
I'm doing my masters programme in international business (MPIB)
and wish to know about the career opportunities open for me.
Sweetha
New Delhi
The international business programme provides a strong foundation
in economics, mathematics, and statistics with in-depth knowledge
of accounting, management, corporate finance, and marketing. The
programme aims to optimally prepare students for the many
challenges of a rapidly changing international business
environment. Entry-level jobs in the field of international
business are as varied as the field itself. Most positions in
marketing, finance, and consulting work begin with in-house
training programs of a managerial, development and/or technical
nature. Companies operating in international markets usually
prefer that employees become fully trained in the domestic
operations of the business before being given an opportunity to
represent the firm abroad.
I wish to know the difference between aeronautical and aerospace
engineering. Are the job opportunities the same for both?
A.V. Rakesh
Chennai
Aeronautical engineering is a part of aerospace engineering.
Aeronautical engineering focuses on systems that operate in
Earth's(aircraft) atmosphere and aerospace on those operating in
space (spacecraft). The job prospects for both fields are
interrelated. In India, opportunities exist with government
agencies such as the HindustanAeronautical Ltd., Indian Space
Research Organisation, and variousresearch and defence labs. The
Indian Air Force and airlines companiesalso employ aeronautical
engineers for maintenance of aircrafts. Abroad, NASA and aircraft
manufacturers such as Boeing and Airbus employ aerospace
engineers.
I am a pharmacy student and wish to know the job opportunities

The pharmaceutical industry employs pharmaceutical professionals
to handle research, quality control, management, sales,
production, packaging and other areas of specialised work. The
industry also employs chemists, managers, productions engineers,
chemical engineers, packaging specialists, sales personnel,
advertising staff, and so on. The nature of work of each person
employed in the industry is related to his area of expertise.
Technical personnel deal with research, quality control,
production, packaging, etc. while the managerial staff co-
