MISCELLENAEOUS The art of delegation
ARE you a victim of delegation blues? Does whatever work you
delegate remain unfinished; half finished or not meet the quality
standards? Check if you have the right attitude towards
delegation. Rather than giving into frustration and despair, hone
your skills of delegation.
Delegate to share
when you delegate work to your employees, do so in a spirit of
sharing and not as a superior to a subordinate.
Delegate to train: Delegation is one skill that not only gets
your work done but also helps you effectively train an employee
for greater responsibility. Delegate work gradually, increasing
the complexity of the task with each new assignment.
Delegate to build confidence: To build an employee's confidence
levels, delegate work, which you know the individual is capable
of accomplishing. Put his latent and proven talents to the best
use.
Delegate to increase efficiency: Your team's efficiency can
considerably be enhanced if you delegate intelligently, based on
each team member's skills sets.
Delegate to build rapport & improve communication: Delegation
gives the manager an opportunity to stay in constant touch with
his team and keep abreast with all the developments within the
team and with the project.
Boost the team's image, delegate!: When each member of the team
has a certain role to fulfil, not only is the individual member's
confidence boosted but the team's image as an efficient and
capable team within the company is also enhanced.
Job satisfaction is relative to the kind, type and degree of
responsibility and quality of work. By taking all these factors
into account, you can delegate to ensure your employee's degree
of job satisfaction.
Finally, delegation can be used to improve your personal
effectiveness. Delegate well to streamline your work schedule.
