I have completed my engineering. I am expecting my results by the
end of this month and wish to apply for jobs. Please guide me on
how to draft my resume.

Tips for an effective resume would include the following
An objective stating briefly what type of work you hope to obtain
Address and telephone number on the right side, and in case of a
change of address do mention it
Clear and descriptive
(Be) Specific in what you need to tell to your employer
A resume is not just a document of credentials; it is the most
powerful channel between you and the potential employer. A resume
should cover everything about yourself that is relevant to the
job on offer and just touch upon your skills in other areas.
A typical resume will include personal details, date of birth,
languages known, educational qualifications, computer
qualifications, projects undertaken, work experience (give the
total number of years, and then break it up starting from the
latest company you are working for and the latest job description
along with your designation followed by other job descriptions;
achievements (outline anything unique you have achieved in any of
your jobs, or academically. It could be some valuable
contribution you made to your job or company, special awards or
recognition from the management); special skills (Mention any
special skills you may have developed over the course of your
experience); and references available upon request towards the
end of the resume.
Ideally, your entire resume should not exceed a page. If you have
had a number of years of experience specific to the job you are
applying for, two pages are also acceptable.

The purpose of a cover letter is to provide support for your
candidature in ways not covered by your resume. It allows you an
opportunity to introduce yourself and capture the attention of
the employer. If you are applying for several jobs, it is
preferable that you submit a cover letter for each position. To
apply, refer to the job requisition number and send two copies of
your resume and a covering letter along with it, mentioning the
date of the advertisement and the post applied for. Include the
job requisition number. Make sure your name is the first thing on
the page, use the standard address format, list phone numbers and
e-mail addresses separately.
Use standard, 8.5"x11" white paper, mail the resume in a 9"x12"
envelope, use the regular font size (12 to 14 point) and standard
fonts, print (preferably laser printed) on one side of the paper
only. Use terms and jargon specific to your industry, spell out
acronyms, check punctuations, and list specific skills using
nouns rather than action verbs
