MISCELLENAEOUS

Do it right: An employer's wish list!

Interview times can be stressful and demanding. Instead of feeling like a victim, or simply going through the motions of an interview, it pays to know what is expected.

This is especially today where employers are finicky about fitment, and interviews are becoming more complex and difficult as a result. However, the objective behind the whole process is not to find out if you have all the right answers but to check if you are Mr. Right. Here's an interviewer's wish list:

The candidate should have:

A goal and career objective that match the company's requirements

A strong conviction that he is the person for the job.

Field savvy in terms of conceptual knowledge and practical experience

Examples that vouch for his credibility

A learning attitude and a team working ability

Smart dress sense.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Confidence and coolness

Consistency

A working style that fits organisational work culture

There might be other requirements that are specific to an organisation, however the ones mentioned are usually the basic needs of every employer.

Checking out the requirements of your employer, researching the company, tailoring your profile to suit the job and highlighting your soft skills can increase your chances of success.

First impressions do matter; and you won't get a second chance for that interview.

Therefore being prepared is essential. You will get that extra boost to make a better impression, and have a better chance at wowing the interviewer!
