MISCELLENAEOUS Do it right: Reboot yourself!
Most of us pay scant attention to some of the most important
dictates of the workplace. Then when we do get into trouble, we
rue the day in which we could have made an effort but didn't to
adhere to those little things that make such a big impact. They
ease our work stress and make our professional lives content.
Take time taste these titbits.
Be a builder. Take time and make an effort to get to know your
peers and colleagues. Try to maintain amicable relationships at
the workplace.
Save as. Keep a copy of all the important communications. This
will prove to be highly useful when you are in a sticky
situation. Then you have all the evidence you need, quote
unquote!
Option enthusiasm. It can put you on the map of opportunities
galore! Enthusiastic participation will not only create a
favourable impression but may also get you plum assignments.
Use work tools for work. Kill the urge to use the official
facilities for personal use.
Plain text. Cut out the gossip, for it could just boomerang.
Network neighbourhood. Create a network to fall back on. Being
part of an association helps you stay current and networked to
facilities you may need in crises.
Set language. Make it a habit to be courteous and helpful to
every employee or visitor in the office.
Extended formatting. Stay alert and on the move. Ask questions,
seek opinions and welcome team participation.
Merge documents. Be a team player. As you climb higher, it's your
people skills, emotional maturity and judgement that matter.
Domain expertise. Be tech savvy and stay updated.
Online collaboration. Grab opportunities for educational aid
offered by the company.
Chat room. Have regular tjte-`-tjtes with your boss! This could
trigger some valuable suggestions for improvement or new
opportunities for growth.
Edit message. Make no false promises and aim for sensible
targets. Under promise, but over deliver.
