What are the career prospects for advanced power systems?

Graduates of advanced power systems find employment in planning, operation and control of electrical power systems for electricity supply authorities, engineering consultants, large industrial users, and in application sectors of industry.
There are also involved in research and design, electricity supply industries (home and abroad), consulting, manufacturing, nuclear power and marketing.
Please give me details about the required eligibility, Time of notification and other related information about combined defence services examination.

The UPSC conducts the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE) twice every year for the recruitment of officers in Army, Air Force and Navy. Candidates qualifying the written test are interviewed by the Service Selection Board and if selected, depending upon their preference and position in the merit list, are sent to one of the following institutes for orientation training: -
* Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun
* Naval Academy, Goa
* Air Force Academy, Begumpet, Hyderabad
* Officers Training Academy, Chennai
Those joining the first three institutes get permanent commissions, however cadets passing out of OTA get a short service commission. Applicants are required to mention their preferences while filling up the application forms.
Applicants for IMA, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy must be unmarried males in the age group 18-23 years, 20-23 years and 21-23 years, as on 1st July of the year of examination, respectively. Married applicants, in the age group of 18-24 years are also eligible for OTA. A bachelor's degree in any discipline is the minimum qualification for appearing in CDSE. However, applicants for Naval Academy must have physics and mathematics at the graduation level or a bachelor's degree in engineering. In addition there are some prescribed physical standards for taking the CDS examination, details of which are available in the advertisement published by the Employment News.
The examination includes a written test, and those who qualify the written test are called for interview by the Service Selection Boards. The written test comprises of three papers- English, general knowledge and elementary mathematics respectively. However those seeking admission in OTA, are exempted from taking the paper on elementary mathematics. Various concessions, like reservation in posts, are available for NCC cadets appearing in the exam.
The exam is notified by UPSC in leading newspapers and Employment news in the month of May/June and November/ December and the examination is held twice in May and October. A candidate seeking admission to the examination must apply to the Secretary, UPSC, New Delhi on the prescribed application form. The application forms are available on payment of Rs 20 from any of the designated post office throughout the country. The examination is held in over 40 centres.

Admission to Post Graduate Diploma In Industrial Safety and Environmental Management (PGDISEM) is open to graduates in all branches of engineering/technology or equivalent. The candidates must have a first class degree (55% in case of SC/ST candidates). Work experience is given suitable weightage.
They must use the new Application Form obtainable by post from Academic Section, NITIE, Vihar Lake, Mumbai - 400 087. Only those applicants that are engineering graduates and have a valid CAT 2003 score will be eligible for selection for Group Discussion/Interview to be held at NITIE Mumbai after the CAT examination.

The positions available are very limited. The Indian National Scientific Documentation Centre employs full time and part time interpreters. Apart from UN there are several industries, government, international organisations, research organisations etc. Employment potential exists in tourism and hotel industry also. Freelancing can also be a good proposition. The UN organisation also employs people as translators, interpreters, editors or proofreaders.

Mechatronics engineering is a relatively new discipline within engineering which focuses on the development of robotic systems to carry out diverse processes efficiently, accurately, reliably and intelligently. It combines aspects from mechanical engineering, electronics, computing and computer control systems, including the latest developments in sensors and actuator technology.
Mechatronics design covers a wide variety of applications from the physical integration and miniaturisation of electronic controllers with mechanical systems to the control of hydraulically powered robots in manufacturing and assembly factories.
