I want to do a course in aviation management. Please tell me which institutes offer the course in distance mode. What is the fee structure?

Institute of Charted Financial Analysts of India University, Tripura offers Master of Aviation Management under its flexible learning programmes.

The admissions are open throughout the year. According to their website, you must pay an amount of Rs.2,500 while enrolling for the course, which includes admission fee of Rs.1,500 and a one-time examination fee of Rs.1,000 for the first group. For the subsequent groups, the examination fee per group is Rs.1,000, which is to be paid separately as and when you register for the examinations.

I am doing engineering now. I have a backlog. Will it have an effect on my selection in campus interviews?

You will generally tell your aggregate percentage when asked about academics. Hence you need not worry about a backlog in first year. But it will be really difficult if you have one in the final year. Hence concentrate on your studies and try to improve your percentage to the best possible extent.

You need not worry about your first year backlog unless you come across a company that is too keen on academic records.

I finished MBA through correspondence. I want to do M.Phil and PhD in business management through correspondence. Please tell me which universities offer me the same.

Indira Gandhi Open University offers PhD in business management. The eligibility criterion is:

• Bachelor’s Degree with three years supervisory/managerial/professional experience or

• Professional degree in engineering/technology/medicine/architecture/lLaw/ pharmacy or

• Professional qualifications in accountancy, cost and works accountancy, company secretaryship or

• A Master’s degree in any subject

Rajeev Gandhi Memorial College of Engineering and Technology, Nandyal, affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University offers M.Tech in machine design. The admission criteria are GATE and entrance test.

To get into automobile industry, you can opt for master’s degree in automobile engineering.

Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, Mumbai offers M.Tech in mechanical engineering with machine design and automobile engineering as specialisation. For details, visit www.vjti.ac.in

The Automotive Research Association of India, Pune and The Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore offers M.Tech in automobile engineering.

Students with a degree in mechanical engineering also get placed in automobile industry.

In-service lecturers/teachers with minimum two years of teaching experience and postgraduate degree in the concerned subject are eligible for the course.
