Indira Gandhi National Open University offers Ph.D in English in distance mode. The eligibility is M.Phil and PG degree in relevant discipline with minimum 55 per cent marks or master’s degree in relevant discipline with at least 55 per cent marks and five years of teaching/ industry/ administration/ professional experience at senior level. English and Foreign Languages University, School of Distance Education, Hyderabad, offers M.Phil and Ph.D in English in distance mode.
The general eligibility criterion for M.Phil is minimum 55 per cent marks in MA English.
The eligibility criterion for Ph.D is M.Phil in English or completion of course work in the M.Phil. Or program in English (ELT/ Linguistics and Phonetics/ English Literature) from CIEFL with a GPA of 3.00.
