BANGALORE'S LATEST watch studio is a strikingly elegant outlet, with the poet's immortal lines welcoming you at the entrance. Ethos, a multi-brand watch retail store situated at the Forum Mall, Koramangala, is brought to the discerning Bangalore shopper by Kamla Dials and Devices Ltd., a leading manufacturer and exporter of watch components.
From top-end brands such as Dior and Omega to the sporty Esprit, the store has watches to suit individual tastes and lifestyles. Ranging from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 1.5 lakh, it has them all. "Esprit, Citizen, and Pierre Cardin are definitely popular with the young," says a spokesperson, pointing out that brands such as Rado and Tissot have been hot favourites for several years, especially in the South. "Increasing exposure and travel has made the average Indian more conscious of trends across the world, and a lot more people are willing to spend on accessories such as watches," she adds.
While Omega and Tag Heuer are favoured in the West in the premium segment, Rolex and Omega have been Indians' favourites. However, Ethos does not house Rolex. Among the interesting brands one can find here are Candino from Switzerland and Fossil from the U.S.A.. Although relatively new in India, these brands are appealing to the young. They come in trendy designs and are affordable. The store also has the classy Balmain, with the famed Arabesque dial.
