|
THINK ITALIAN and among the first things that come to mind are pastas and pizzas. Italian cuisine, much like other world cuisine, is known for its eclectic ingredients, methods of preparation and various courses. The `Indo-Italian Food Festival' to be held from August 30 at Hotel South Park will have an elaborate line-up of pastas such as fettuccini, lasagne, cannelloni, tortellini and ravioli, apart from delicious pizzas such as pizza margarita.
"People are opting for a global flavour and we decided to organise a food festival with the highlight on Italian spread," says Tulasidharan Pillai, Executive Chef, The South Park. The festival lays emphasis on Italian food and for those who prefer Indian cuisine, the Chef and his team have chosen a multi-cuisine menu that includes fare such as Murgh Shahjahani, Pork Vindaloo and Murgh Lababdar.
You could start off with soups such as Jahangiri shorba or Crema di asparagi con amandini, before moving on to pastas and pizzas. If you prefer to have rice, the buffet will have an assortment of saffron rice, herb rice, red wine and garlic rice part from the staple pulao. The menu has an impressive list of Italian desserts.
The cold desserts such as Zuccatto `Monalisa', Torta di noci, Cassata alla siciliana, La crastata di mama add zing to the food festival that wraps up on September 5. Do not forget to check out the famed Tiramisu, a classic of the Italian dessert repertoire.
