Cool cuts for summer
THE HEAT is on and fashion designers are sweating it out in their studios to come up with cool cuts for the season.
In this context, Be: has put on show a gamut of themes in vibrant and sunny colours with soft pastels on free-flowing silhouettes.
The industry's big names have been roped in for the show. Rohit Bal is showcasing stretch-knit halters and figure flattering silhouettes tops for women, not to mention shirts and in-hand appliqué work in brilliant shades of pastels for men; Wendell Rodricks has created comfortable loungewear for men. On his part, designer Aki Narula's pieces show cotton trousers and kimono tops in bright yellows and pinks. Designer Krishna Mehta has come up with bold and flora prints besides ethnic wear including elegant spaghetti strapped salwar kameezes as well as dupattas and has also gone stylishly funky with bird batik printed shirts in orange and blues.
Adding an international touch is London-based designer Gurcharan, known for dressing royalty. Moving away from his trademark colours of black and grey, Rajesh Pratap Singh has put to use fluorescent colours of pink, green and orange with thread embroidery on white fabrics creating flamboyant silhouettes.
The other designers in action are Gauri and Nainika and the duo of Shantanu and Nikhil.
