NO HASSLES Now you can download music directly on your mobile

Now you no longer need to load songs on your mobile phone from your computer. Hutch has launched a service called Full Song Download where you can directly download songs into your mobile from a service provider. But Digital Rights Management (DRM) will protect the downloaded songs so that they cannot be transferred or forwarded. Kannada, English and other languages will be available for download.

The songs will be offered in categories such as Bollywood, international, indipop, devotional, ghazals and regional hits through the PlanetHutch service. Users must first download the music player which is available free of cost. It will allow to download songs create playlists.

The DRM protection, the providers say, is designed to prevent music piracy. So, the downloaded song is locked to the subscriber's handset, SIM card and memory card. There are three pricing categories for the songs — Rs. 20, Rs. 25 and Rs. 30. In addition the standard usage fee of 10 paise per 10 KB will be charged. The average size of a four-minute song is around 700 KB, so a 128 MB memory card can store over 180 songs.

The service will be available from May 15 onwards to all post-paid and prepaid customers.
