Terracotta treat

Of painted and embellished pots at Vimonisha

"The Great Terracotta Pottery Show" of Tamil Nadu is on at the Vimonisha Art Gallery, Khader Nawaz Khan Road, Nungambakkam, from June 30 to July 2, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The pots are exclusively made by the rural artisans of the State, keeping in mind the latest trends of art in pottery elsewhere in the country.

Pottery as an art form is slowly catching on, and one can see designer pots in almost all homes. The pots are handcrafted, painted and embellished with beads of various hues. In some cases, they are given an ethnic look with jute work.

Anvita Shukla of Dollar Creations has painted these pots with passion, done mirrorwork to make them look vibrant. There is a wide range in form, texture, hue and glaze in Anvita's art. Besides the painted pots, there will be ceramic pots and decorated gift candles.

For customised pots, contact Anvita at 98402 37249.
