Innovation was the buzzword at the CIFT show

Stepping out for a party? How does a saree embellished with kundan stones sound? Or one with a blouse shaped like a heart?
These were some of the creations showcased at the fashion event conducted by the Coimbatore Institute of Fashion Technology (CIFT).
`CIFT- Fashion', into its 11th edition now, was targeted at introducing students to the fashion industry. Students exhibited all the creations they had worked on throughout the year. As part of their final project, they were asked to work on unique party wear. So, the budding designers came up with 16 party wears including cholis, sarees, kameez and Indo-Western outfits.
Style quotient
Students used different shapes, cuts, embroidery and material to lend style to these garments. A yoke panel with crochet work in a red and black combination and a `sinti' creation that could be worn on both sides were among the noteworthy ones.
In addition to designing garments, the students also came up with coordinated accessories like handbags, slippers and jewellery.
