FOR A HEALTHY LIFE Kishore finds that people in the city are moving towards healthy foods

If fruit cuts and vegetable juices come as dash of colour on an oil heavy conventional spread, here is a bistro that offers you fresh salads and speciality juices only. Barely a month old, Scottsdale has regulars dropping by for Cole slaw with a tall glass of Tomato and celery juice. And there is tea as well. Choose from ajwain and ginger flavoured teas.

The cappuccino here is served with sucrose. The USP of the place then is its healthful menu. "Lunch is not a plate of rice. You can have it with a bowl of salad and a good juice," observes Kishore Rajamoorthy, owner Scotts Dale.

A pastry chef who has worked in star properties across the country and cruise liners before he recently returned from the US, Kishore decided to take a chance with a `salads and juices only' concept in the biryani and spice capital.

"A lot of people still come and ask for biryani and curry puffs. While the West is taking to ayurveda, yoga and vegetarianism, one finds fast food as the staple here.

People are moving to health foods here. The trend is there but people don't find time to make them," he adds. About the menu, "these have been proven recipes. I wanted to introduce international salads but you don't get the ingredients here," he says.

Choose from Orange carpaccio— spinach cut into juliennes and mixed with mint and yoghurt and other international salads. Kishore recommends Shrimp cocktail. Need a cooler? Go for the mildly mint flavoured cocktail of orange and spinach juice— fibre heavy and delectable.

A detoxifying Clear skin strawberry juice as also Chlorophyll drink can do wonders to your complexion. There is the Mango and banana whip for those aiming at weight gain, a Carrot and apple cocktail for the family and well, an Orange and beet with fenugreek for the women.

Apart from the cold sandwiches and those made with egg less mayonnaise, the sandwich section has the Just for kids mini menu with Green peas sandwich and more.

On the anvil is "Salad in a glass," says Kishore about the vegetables, cucumber, celery and tomatoes delicacy. Drop by for a sippa.

And well the place doesn't recommend takeaways to retain the healthful benefits. On the cards are more branches in the city says Kishore.
