I have dark knees and elbows that prevent me from wearing short skirts and sleeveless tops. Please help me get rid of this problem.

Rough, darkened elbows and knees are a common problem. But do not worry as there are some easy remedies. Regularly, rub lemon on your elbows and knees as lemon juice is a natural bleaching agent. You can also apply almond paste mixed with honey and sugar granules. After application, scrub the area for a few minutes and then leave it on for an hour before washing it off. Mix equal parts of rose water and glycerine and dab this mixture on your skin at regular intervals. This has a softening effect on the skin and restores the original skin tone. Remember to keep this mixture in the refrigerator.

What kind of make up can I do in the monsoon without fearing of it being washed away?

The common perception of the Indian Monsoon is that it is the most fashion-defunct time of the year. Understandably so, as this is the season where you are denied the chance to flaunt your designer clothes and million dollar looks. This does not mean, however, that you have to stop using make up! The best solution is to keep the make-up minimal and to use water proof cosmetics. Apply as little foundation as possible, so as to avoid patchiness and blotchiness. Some cosmetic brands have come out with a gel eyeliner that is waterproof and serves its purpose very efficiently. Water proof mascara can be used to give life to your lashes without the fear of running and smearing. Cream eye shadow is most suitable in this season as it lasts longer. Water proof blush can be used for highlighting the cheeks. Finally, use lip gloss instead of lipstick.

I am working in an advertising agency. It is a very demanding job and I rarely have time to go for a facial. Please suggest a home facial that I can prepare.

You can easily make a home facial out of simple kitchen goods. Here is a recipe for restoring moisture and making the skin taut as well as soft:

Carrot Top Facial Mask

The Ingredients :

2-3 large carrots

4 1/2 tablespoons of honey

Method: Boil the carrots in little water and then mash. Add honey and mix well. Apply the mixture gently on the skin and wait for 10 minutes. Rinse off with cold water. The natural essence of honey hydrates the skin and restores its balance. The mask manipulates the deep tissues, leaving the skin feeling totally relaxed, yet revitalised. Carrots are high in beta-carotene and antioxidants. These ingredients will rebuild skin collagen, improve tone and texture, and fade age spots.
