Bharatanatyam

Tinkle toes Mythili Prakash

A Bharatanatyam recital by Mythili Prakash will be held under the auspices of Dharani at the Kerala Fine Arts Hall, Kochi, on August 26 at 6.45 p.m.

Initiated into Bharatanatyam by her mother, Viji Prakash, who runs a dance school `Sakhi' in Los Angeles, Mythili's `arangetram' was held in Mumbai at the age of eight.

A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, with a bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Mythili is also trained in Carnatic vocal music, mridangam, veena and flute.

Her specially choreographed recital `Nrithya Samarpanam,' incorporates many pieces adapted from ancient texts, such as the Shiva Purana, Bhagavatham, Mahabharata and even Sufi poetry, which is not part of traditional Bharatanatyam repertoire.
