Delhi is one of the most happening places for food buffs. Here you can get everything from dal makhani and tandoori chicken to masala dosa. But a purely vegetarian restaurant serving different cuisines is quite rare to find. That is why it is a delight to find Govardhan restaurant at Adchini, a restaurant that specialises in South Indian dishes. What's more, it also serves Chinese and even North Indian cuisine.

Opened in 1999, it is one of the most sought after multi-cuisine vegetarian restaurants in the locality.

Sacred atmosphere

Like the name suggests, the restaurantis done up to create a serene and sacred atmosphere. It is decorated with wooden ceiling panels and idols of Sri Krishna. The soft lighting and religious instrumental songs played at the backdropadd to the serenity of the restaurant, making it a perfect place to dine with the family. This 150-seater restaurant also has a well-decorated hall in the basement for parties.

Coming to South Indian varieties, it serves rawa masala dosa, erulli masala dosa, etc while bisibelebath remains the hot favourite among many. On the weekends, it serves Andhra pesarattu, a specialty of the restaurant that is made of moong dal stuffed with urma. Also, one can have Kanchipuram idli, prepared with a mixture of rawa, rice and urad dal. Also on offer is the restaurant's `special Govardhan soup' made of beetroot, green chilli and ginger. It contains no colour, and is said to behealthy and tasty.

In north Indian cuisines, it serves the traditional dal makhani and shahi paneer while in the Chinese section, it offers a wide array of soups and starters like hakka noodles, vegetable manchow soup and momos, etc.

Talking about the success of the restaurant I. Subrahmanyam, the owner says, "We have brought cooks from Udipi, the home of south Indian cuisine. Here you can get a complete vegetarian food with and without onion."

The restaurant also offers a discount of 10 per cent on all items to the students.
