Shobha Asar brings her fusion brand to the city

Hyderabad's romance with jewellery is well known. Strings of pearls interlaced with jadau pendants as also polki-studded chokers are still in vogue while tourmaline in its designer hues is sought after by the fashionistas. If traditional gold and diamond jewellery brands are making their presence in the city, once the diamond and pearl bazaar, can designer lines be far behind?
After successful exhibitions by popular designer jewellery brands at various boutiques, the recent addition to the haute fare is Shobha Asar who brings her predominantly diamond and precious stone set in white and yellow gold label to town.
With the who's who of the country, not forgetting the Bollywood stars, for clients, the designer launches her flagship store in the twin cities on Road No 10, Banjara Hills, simultaneously with yet another in Mumbai.
"We have been coming to Hyderabad in the form of exhibition. Here people believe in traditional culture and new trends much like our fusion jewellery that combines classic and new," says Shobha Asar as she brings necklaces, rings and colour stone based jewellery to the city.
The jewellery line stands out for its handmade designs with a little help from CAD/CAM for perfection. Asar recommends chandeliers that are the flavour of the season and turquoise, tourmaline and rubies studded jewellery in white and yellow gold.
"We would be bringing different collections here, including the men's collection of cuff links and buttons for kurtas and sherwanis. Today, it is very fashionable to wear sherwanis and the accessories to go with it. Also, women want to shop jewellery for their husbands," says Asar.
