ON SHOW A model in an Ashish Pandey outfit

Combining embroideries, crystal threads and glass beads, designer Ashish Pandey has come up with a Spring Summer collection for the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week. Ashish has named the collection Kamrinder Kaur from LA.

It is going to be showcased this afternoon. . As the name suggests, the designs are a fusion of the western cuts and the ethnic Indian elegance.Ashish says the inspiration is a flamboyant Indian Punjabi girl living in Los Angeles.

"Her name is Karminder but she likes to be known as Karry. An Indian girl born and brought up in LA under the influence of Indian culture and traditions provides an opportunity to present a range of thoughts from sensuality and sophistication." The collection has a delightful simplicity. Fabrics like georgette and chiffons that go with the season and are in demand have been used. Dresses and skirts with flower and petal motifs and stitched colourful pearls bring a refined look to the collection.

Fond of Indian weaves and embroidery, Ashish holds, "To compete in the highly attractive international market it is important to use India's rich cultural heritage and traditions to our advantage."
