A contest to promote environmental activities among children
|
The United Nations Environment Programme, in partnership with the Volvo Group, organises ‘Volvo Adventure’, an online global education programme that rewards environmental activities among students aged between 13 and 16.
The projects will be published on www.
volvoadventure.org, and the best projects will be selected for an all-expenses paid trip to Sweden to compete in the global finals. The last date for posting projects is January 31, 2008.
For students who are just starting out, Volvo offers to help with resources to plan and develop their project, based on successful past projects.
The initial stage of the programme is conducted entirely online, and is aimed at combining fun, learning and action.
In the past, Indian teams had won two global finals in the last five contests with projects that focussed on biodiversity, wastage of resources, water quality, sustainable use of energy and transport.
Volvo Adventure Project is part of various environment-related initiatives undertaken by Volvo.
