Metro Fair 2008
Every year, near about Pongal, Coimbatore witnesses the Metro Fair organised by the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis. This time, it is the 20th consecutive year of the event.
It will have stalls selling food, home appliances, kitchen equipment, building materials, jewellery, computers and accessories, sports goods and plenty more.
Home loans, health care, insurance, mutual funds, etc. will also have kiosks dispensing information and services. To add to the excitement, there will be contests in word power, cookery, mom-and-daughter events, and so on.
For a cause
And, as you spend money and have fun at the event, you will also be contributing to welfare projects that include donation of life-saving equipment to the government hospital, and tribal welfare centres, scholarships to deserving economically-deprived students, setting up classrooms and infrastructure at rural government schools, maintenance of a municipal crematorium and installation of electric water purifier at over 25 government schools to benefit over 31,000 children every day.
